Strengthen People-to-people Communication to Promote Cultural Exchanges Between China and South Kore

On August 21st, member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Executive Chairman of China International Cultural Communication Center Long Yuxiang was invited to visit the Sun Moon University in South Korea and conferred honorary doctorate.

President of the Sun Moon University Huang Sun Zo held talks with Long Yuxiang, and warmly welcomed Long Yuxiang and his delegation to visit the University. President Huang happily recalled his recent visit to China and meetings with Chairman Long, and expressed the expectation for greater cooperation and exchanges in the near future to jointly promote the development of education and culture in both China and South Korea.

Long Yuxiang thanked President Huang for his invitation, and said that the two sides should strengthen exchanges and jointly promote the China-ROK exchanges and cooperation in culture, education, technology and sports, and do more practical work for the healthy development of China-ROK relations and for the benefit of the two peoples.

During the meeting, Professor Park Zae Yeon of the Chinese Language Department of Sun Moon University introduced to the delegation with fluent Chinese the achievements of the Sun Moon University in Chinese culture, especially the study of classical Chinese literature. Long Yuxiang spoke highly of it and extended his gratitude to the Sun Moon University for their contribution to Chinese culture research and dissemination.

After the talks, the host and the guest moved to the International Conference Hall of the Sun Moon University where the University held a grant ceremony to confer the honorary doctorate on Long Yuxiang. The ceremony was presided over by Professor Lee Seon Hoon of the Chinese Language Department of Sun Moon University, and the Dean of the Graduate School Park Heung Sun read out the recommendation in which it reads: “In view of Long Yuxiang’s outstanding contributions in the fields of international cultural exchanges, poverty alleviation and student aid, his dedication to China’s development and the peace in Asia and around the world, and in particular he plays an important role in promoting the development of China-ROK relations through China-ROK cultural and economic exchanges, we hereby confer him an honorary doctorate through the review of our graduate school committee. President of the Sun Moon University Huang Sun Zo awarded Long Yuxiang the degree certificate and delivered a congratulatory speech. Long Yuxiang expressed his appreciation in his speech, and said that it’s his honor to obtain an honorary doctorate in Sun Moon University where is nurturing international talents. President Xi Jinping attaches great importance to China-ROK relations. Hope together with South Korea to seriously review the experience and lessons learned since the establishment if diplomatic ties, always staying true to the mission and going ahead hand in hand. Long Yuxiang stressed that China and South Korea are good neighbors and good partners, and the two sides should cherish friendship. It is highly expected to promote the sound development of China-ROK relations through strengthening exchanges in education, culture, sports and economy, and make unremitting efforts for the happy life and development of the two peoples and for the promotion of world peace and human welfare.

Nearly a hundred teachers and students from the Sun Moon University attended the ceremony. In addition, chairman of the Korea China International Film Awards Zo Gen Woo, chairman of the South Korean organizing committee Zang Seong Cheol, executive chairman and famous actress Kim Bo-Yeon, chairman of the South Korea Costume Association Mr. Koo and his wife have come from Seoul to the Sun Moon University in Asan city to congratulate Long Yuxiang on his receiving of an honorary doctorate.

After the ceremony, accompanied by President Huang, Long Yuxiang visited the library, museum, science labs and overseas students apartments. Additionally, Long Yuxiang presented to the school library a book entitled “The Book of Life” edited by him.
